We just love our pets, but its very important to keep their fleas under control. Your vet can give you the best advice on regular flea treatments for your pets so that the fleas are kept at bay.
If not treated the fleas can be just at home on surfaces, both soft and hard, inside and outside of our homes. Their life cycle is really quite amazing and their eggs are able to lay dormant for extended periods of time in areas of our homes and yards that are not frequently visited. Once we enter these areas and the eggs detect movement through vibration of the floor etc.. they can hatch and the cycle continues. Fleas can be so annoying with their persistent biting, they just never let up.
In our experience, products bought for home use from the supermarkets and hardware stores are rarely successful in totally eliminating flea infestations, even though some products make some grand claims.
Why? With any flea treatment it is important to cover all floor surfaces inside the home and all the surface area of the yard. Also soft furnishings need attention as well. The products used by professional pest managers are the latest available and are on patent for many years for professional use only. We use a mixture of products that kill the adult fleas and we add an insect growth regulator (IGR) to deal with the flea eggs.
Yes you can live without fleas if you have pets, you just need to ensure the vet deals with the fleas on your pets and a professional pest manager deals with fleas on surface around the home.
